#TBT . . I could not for the life of me get that top 9 app to work. But also I realized I'd much rather choose them myself, so there. . . I keep trying to write this and it keeps getting too sappy SO I WILL BE BRIEF. I could make an entire collage just about friends old and new who support me, and make me feel wanted and welcome. ( Sav i think this is the only photo of us together sorry lol) . . From the GOODYEAR ARTS residency, to group shows, to being featured on not one, but TWO of my favorite online websites/publications...unreal. . . Oh and lest i forget. Not one, not two, but three amazing musicians trusted me to help them design the face of their music. These projects are the reason I freelance, and it elevates my work just to be associated with them. ( @danepage was featured on a npr music blog, nbd) This was my best freelance business year by far. (Always looking to do more, hit a girl up 😉) . Ok that's it
I've spent the past few years trying to loosen up my lines and fear or painting/working with color. I find so much fun working the details, and there is a challenge in pushing contrast with monochromaticism, but it's good to have those be choices and not safety blankets. . . This year especially felt like a breakthrough for both of those....Big sprawling wall drawings, color everywhere (it's not painting if i pretend I'm just drawing with colored ink) BUT I also having been feeling the need to swing the pendulum back the other way and log some practice time with life-drawing and color theory experimentation. . . Who knows how long the phase will last, but these lemons are a start on some lemonade.
